About Mrs. V: Otherwise known as Mom, Aunt Jenny, Miss Jenny, and Coach Jenny.

Wow! Finding a picture of myself was a challenge. One of my other passions besides teaching is photography. However, that means I am rarely on the lense side of the camera. Most of the time, when I am not the photographer, my son is taking the pictures, and this is what happens. Many of his other shots are of me on the phone, an invention I would rather not have in my house.

Our 20th Anniversary
So who is Mrs. V?  I am a wife, mom, teacher, church planter, children's small group leader, swim coach, photographer, sudo-homeschooler, scrapbooker-who-wishes-she-had-time-to-scrapbook, and new "flybaby" (as in the FlyLady).  In our community I am known by many names: Mom to my three kids;  Mrs. V at school;  Miss Jenny at church; Coach Jenny in the summer; Aunt Jenny to 2 sweet girls and a toe-headed boy as well as a few very dear "honorary" nieces and nephews; and at times I am called all 4 or 5 at once!  I have an incredible "extended" family including a spiritual daughter and granddaughter.  I love Jessamine County, and I am very blessed to live here.

Whew! That was a mouthful. I have been involved in public school and church educational settings for 20+ years. The Jessamine County Schools have been my educational home since 1992. Having taught first grade, second grade, third grade, a kindergarten/first multi-age split, second/third grade multi-age, and first/second grade multi-age, I am now back with kindergartners. This age is so rewarding. Children grow and change so much and so quickly between 4 and 6. It is so much fun to join them on that journey!

My dearest personal passions are my own 3 children and my husband. You will find that our classroom is very much family first. No one will ever have more influence in the life of a child than his or her parents. As your child's teacher, I want to help equip and empower you to have confidence in guiding your child's educational journey. In our family, we have one child in public high school, one transitioning from a private homeschool co-op to public middle school, and one who is starting kindergarten at the Village. My own three are creative, out-spoken, and energetic.  They definitely keep us busy.

A few other "loves" in my life include picture books, Montessori education,  unsweetened ice tea, dark chocolate, being by the water (Outer Banks junkie), and trying out new muffin recipes (a more recent hobby that I share with the kids at school).

If you are a parent in my room, I hope you find this blog helpful for feeling more in touch with what goes on during your child's school day.  If you are another teacher, I hope you will find ideas and inspiration when you need it - just as so many other incredible teacher and homeschooling blogs have done for me!
